The Kumho Cultural Foundation founded the Kumho Art Studio in 2005, an artist residence run by the Kumho Museum of Art until 2021, in pursuit of the balanced growth of art and music.
Formerly located in Icheon, Gyeonggi Province, the artist residence aimed to foster leading artists of Korea in response to the global era by discovering promising artists and supporting them with space and opportunities to devote themselves to creative work. Furthermore, it attempted to enhance its network in the art world, which involved renowned artists, critics, curators, and other art studios, and it endeavored to improve its programs in collaboration with local autonomous entities and local artistic organizations. A total of 89 artists were selected through a fair admission process.
The Kumho Cultural Foundation will continue to support talented artists and seek new programs that can contribute to the development of the Korean art world.
