2024.11.29.-2025.02.27

The special exhibition Hong Jiyoon Style at Kumho Museum of Art marks the 23rd solo exhibition of artist Hong Jiyoon (b. 1970). It is designed to revisit moments from her 30-year artistic journey.

Known for her fusion of literary motifs, poetic inspiration, and vibrant, dazzling colors in her reinterpretation of East Asian painting, Hong has pioneered a unique style, carving out a new genre in the traditional art scene. Her work embraces the coexistence and blending of contrasts—East and West, past and present, life and death—which serves as the foundation of her practice. This exhibition brings together works spanning various eras and media, transcending time and space, to explore the essence of “Hong Jiyoon Style.”

Hong expands the boundaries of art through a combination of various genres and media, including graphic design, photography, video, objects, installation, performance, public art, publishing, fashion, and art collaborations with corporations, all rooted in her background in traditional East Asian painting. This exhibition aims to reflect her works, from the early 1990s to her most recent pieces, and reaffirm the true essence of the artist. By infusing modern sensibilities into her Eastern philosophical foundations, she continues to explore the fusion of multiple media, breaking down boundaries and expanding her artistic language.
