1F Seungeui Hyun 《The Ordinary ■'s Ordinary Vacation》 2F Heejoon Lee 《Scaffolding》
3F Nosik Lim 《Deep Line》 Heejoon Lee presents the architectural elements of proportion, balance, and color he discovered in the process of exploring the urban architectural space with his own abstract visual language. In this exhibition, Lee showcases his painting and sculpture that incorporate ‘scaffolding', a temporary external architectural structure used in the construction process, and his installation work that displays the actual exhibition space as a variable environment. The modern aesthetic space newly created by the materiality of painting and the conversion of senses invites the viewers to escape from the norm and have multifaceted experiences.
Nosik Lim explores the incidents that occur in the process of transforming images collected in everyday life into a form of painting. In this exhibition, Lim presents a way to perceive an object through expressions centered on ‘line'. The thin lines that remain in an extremely reduced state in the process of emptying out and discarding the unnecessary imply the entire landscape and its objects. These minimal forms invite us to imagine the relationship between inside and outside and the invisible surroundings.
Seungeui Hyun presents various discourses inherent in space from a skeptical point of view. Previously dealing with the relationship between man and nature, and the dark side of tourism business, Hyun in this exhibition reveals multiple stories of a fictional character Mr. ■'s vacation in the paradise, Jeju Island, using symbolic images he created. Many issues existing behind the ideal landscape, such as law and system of capital, and environmental and social problems, are condensed in the black paintings. These works question the current situation we all face and the future to come.
