오제성 개인전 ​Ghost Protocol

작가 오제성은 한국의 전통적인 감각이 현대에 기대 생존할 수 있는 방법에 대해 질문하면서 전국 각지의 비지정문화재를 중심으로 조형적 연구를 전개하고 있다. 이번 전시에서 작가는 고전 재래조각부터 근대기 조각까지 내려져 온 조각적 규범과 규약을 실기적 차원에서 연구하고 현대의 기술로 재해석하여 새로운 조각의 형태를 보여준다. 그는 3D 스캔과 프린트를 활용하여 서로 다른 양식의 조각들을 형태적으로 결합하고 과거에는 존재하지 않았을 산업재료로 작업을 구현한다. 이처럼 선대 조각가들의 이질적인 작업 양식을 동시대적 방식으로 연결함으로써 전통과 현대의 공존 방법을 모색한다.

Oh Jeisung's formative research focuses on non-designated heritage assets across the country, questioning how traditional Korean sensibilities can survive in contemporary times. Here, the artist studies the sculptural norms and regulations passed down from classical, traditional sculpture to modern sculpture at a practical level and reinterprets them with contemporary technology to suggest a new form of sculpture. He utilizes 3D scanning and printing to combine pieces of different styles morphologically and actualizes his work with industrial materials that would not have existed in the past. In this way, Oh seeks methods of coexistence between tradition and modernity by connecting the disparate work styles of previous sculptors in a contemporary way.
