금호미술관

금호미술관 지하1층 세계에서 유일한 분단국가인 대한민국에서 한국전쟁은 특별한 의미를 지닌다. 전쟁으로 인해서 분단된 국가가 되었고, 그 상황이 지금껏 유지되고 있기 때문이다. 이러한 전쟁이 발생한 지도 어느덧 반세기가 지났다. 오늘날 사람들은 그러한 전쟁에 대해서 어떤 기억을 갖고 있을까? 또한 개인적인 희생을 통한 전쟁이 추구하는 보편적 가치에 대해서 어떤 생각들을 갖고 있을까? 이 작업은 전쟁에 관한 기억을 되살리게 하고, 전쟁에서 희생된 사람들을 기리며. 다시는 이러한 역사가 되풀이 되어서는 안된다는 교훈을 갖게 하는 공간 속의 사람들의 모습을 담았다. 미군기지와 국방부가 있는 용산에 위치한 전쟁기념관이 사진의 배경이 된 공간이다. 그 공간을 향유하는 여러 사람들의 모습을 통해 전쟁이란 무엇인가 라는 근본적인 물음과 또한 오늘날 우리에게 공적으로 각인되어진 전쟁의 기억이 사람들에게 어떻게 다가가고 있는지를 보여주고자 한다. The Korean War has special meaning in Korea which is the only divided country in the world. Korea was divided because of the Korean War and the situation has been maintained. It has been half a century since the war occured. Today, what kind of memory do people have about such a warfare? What kind of thought do people have about the universal value which the war pursues through personal sacrifice. This work recalls the memory of the war, admires the people who were sacrificed in the war, includes the feature of people in the space where give the lesson that history should not be repeated. The Warfare Memorial in Yongsan where Ministry of Nationl Defense and U. S. army exist has become background of the photograph. I would like to ask fundamentally what is the war through features of various people who share that space, reveal how the carved memory of the war approaches people.
